Yesterday I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.

Individual Therapy

Hi Soul Searcher, it’s so nice to meet you! It seems you’ve made an incredibly courageous decision to take a path less traveled and reflect on who you are as a soul in this universe and what you’re hoping to accomplish during your time here. I commend you and I’m here to help guide you. Please read below on basic information and steps that will help you get started on your soul searching journey.

1. Consultation: To begin please schedule a 30 minute consultation in-person, or via telehealth. If we meet via telehealth, as opposed to in-person, you will receive a confirmation email from my secure health and wellness video platform SimplePractice, with a link to access your session. Please click on the link before your session and generate a login and password. If you plan on connecting through the SimplePractice app on your mobile device, please download the app beforehand so that we have the full time to consult.

During your consultation I will gain a general understanding of who you are and why you are seeking therapy. Based on your needs, my skill-set, and the energy between us two, we'll decide if I'm the right Therapist for you.  If so, we’ll schedule your first appointment. If not, I will make an appropriate referral(s) based on your presenting concerns and guide you in the right direction.

2. Paperwork: Once you’ve scheduled your consultation, you will receive a link via email from SimplePractice. You must review, complete, and sign the documents within that link including a brief questionnaire, informed consent, limits of confidentiality, policies, procedures, cancellation policy, and your secured billing information.  Please note, I will not be able to see you until your paperwork is signed and complete. I’ve received feedback that this process is relatively seamless and takes approximately 10-15 minutes to finish.

3. First Three Sessions:

Session 1: We’ll spend the first 10 minutes verbally reviewing the paperwork you completed online and I’ll answer and clarify any question you may have. Thereafter, we will review the reasons you’re seeking therapy and declare what you’re hoping to gain from your journey. This will help us stay on the trail. This isn’t to say you’ll arrive at some places along your trail that feel uncomfortable, but therapy is a journey and sometimes it feels. Because I offer an integrative approach to psychotherapy, which includes your body, mind, and spirit, I will teach you basic resourcing techniques that will support you to stay grounded and present during your therapeutic journey.  I will also ask you questions about your culture and faith so that we can include those very important elements about who you are in our work together.

Session 2: In the second session I will conduct a "Primary Scenario," which is a relational genogram I utilize from Integrative Body Psychotherapy that allows us to explore the road your family has paved multi-generationally, and your unique life journey until now.  This process will help us identify where you come from and who you are, your dynamic attachment/relational style, and your "basic fault," which is essentially the unconscious lie you've been telling yourself that gets in your way, keeps you stuck, and is more than likely a large part of the reason you're seeking therapy now.

Session 3: In the third session we’ll continue to explore your Primary Scenario and make connections and interpretations about the generational patterns and themes from yester(years) that are holding you back today.  Once the groundwork has been laid and your "ah-ha" moments have been revealed we'll get to work!

Ongoing Therapy / How it Works: Therapy with a psychodynamic foundation, which is what I offer, is meant to be consistent and long-term. Ideally, we’ll meet a frequency of once to twice a week for a duration of one to two years. Through therapy you can expect to learn resourcing techniques that will enable you to feel grounded, present, and regulated.  You will expand your sense of self, fine-tune your intuition, release blocks that keep you stuck, increase your capacity to be discerning and make decisions, and breathe into your embodied self.

My mission as your Therapist is to guide you to live an embodied life.  The word embodied means: to give BODY to a SPIRIT. Living an embodied life means your spirit is experiencing it’s fullest expression of energetic aliveness, in it’s container, your body.  It’s a feeling!  Through somatic, or body-based psychotherapy, you can expect to learn resourcing techniques that will enable you to feel grounded, present, and regulated.  You will enjoy reduced anxiety, decreased depression, increased resilience.  You'll gain awareness of who you are and what you want.  You'll fine-tune your intuition, release blocks that keep you stuck, and breathe vitality into your embodied self.
